Roboe's Tiles

Roboe started painting bathroom/kitchen tiles and leaving them in various odd, not-quite-conspicuous places around the U-District. Some of them were simply leaned up against a surface or left lying on something; others were stuck to walls with adhesive. As they are easy to miss, I'm sure that I have walked by some. However, I'm always happy to discover a new example of these little pieces of public art. It's sort of like finding a new toy or a little gift on your doorstep when you walk out each morning.

Thanks, Roboe!

Updates:

2006 January 26

BoA tile and Ave tile are still there. The BoA is on the NW corner of the Ave and 47th Street. The tile is on a ledge accessible from the alley.

2006 February 22

(RE)Found tile on the concrete ledge along the eastern edge of University Playround, located at the corner of 9th Ave NE and NE 50th St. The tile is located about half way down the eastern boundary of the park, on a conrete ledge. It faces upward and is adhered to the surface.

I've debated collecting it versus leaving it along, much like the small tile behind the BoA building on the Ave and another tile on the east side of the Ave just south of 45th. This tile has been around for a long time, perhaps a year or longer. I do not walk this route very often, so my previous "notes to self" to photograph it have been lost in the dark recessess of my head.

The tile on the Ave, mentioned previously, has been removed sometime before this date.
